4-Peat Regional Champs

April 8, 2018

On behalf of the current Club Men’s Soccer team we are reaching out to our amazing alumni network in an effort to raise money for our upcoming season. We had another successful season this fall, winning regionals (we beat CU in the finals), and traveling to nationals in Phoenix. As you probably know and have been a part of, the club soccer team has been a powerhouse of region five for many years. We have reached the NIRSA Region V Championship five consecutive years, and we are currently four time defending champions! Our record over the past five years has been 70-4-1. Another update on the team is that we are putting on a spring indoor league for the students at Mines, and are attempting to have a larger presence in the soccer community at school. We’ve attached a team photo from our nationals trip this last season, and we have a ton of photos from the season, which you can check out here.

Reflecting on past years for the team, we have realized that trying to fundraise during the fall, while the season is going on, is quite difficult. As a result, we are making the attempt this semester to raise as much money as we can for the team, so that we can focus on continuing the winning legacy that you all have made possible. The money that we raise this semester will be put towards next season’s expenses, including league fees, payment of officials, and especially travel to nationals, which we fully expect to qualify for again next season. Without fundraising, these costs fall completely on the players, which unfortunately makes participation inaccessible to some extremely promising athletes. We strive to put together the strongest team possible regardless of their ability to pay.

We are training for the 2018 season, and we are asking for your help in supporting our goal of a national championship. The 2018 NIRSA National Championship will be in Foley, Alabama. The cost of airfare, hotels and vans will exceed $14,000. If you have the ability to donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated, and would help us to continue the great soccer program that you were once a part of and reduce the heavy financial burden of the student athletes.

If you want to donate, follow the steps here, making sure to write “Men’s Club Soccer A” in the comment section of the donation page.

If you have any questions, or want to be more connected to the team, feel free to fill out this alumni contact form or contact the us by email at club-soccerma@mines.edu.

We look forward to strengthening our connection to the alumni who have made this team possible. Thank you for your consideration!

Go Orediggers!
